Description
Laser dentistry allows Dr. Kilimitzoglou to provide precise, efficient dental treatment with minimal patient discomfort. Soft tissue lasers can be used for a number of procedures including crown lengthening and gum surgery. These lasers effectively eliminate bacteria, allow for tissue regeneration, and result in faster healing time.

DR. JIMMY KILIMITZOGLOU: A laser is actually light energy that’s used in dentistry today. And what we use it to do precise cutting with virtually no bleeding. So we can use it to do gum surgery and we can also use it to do periodontal therapy. In conjunction with scaling and root planning or a specialized cleaning, it can be used to sterilize the pocket which basically means we go into the lining of the gum tissue and it disinfects it, and it causes healing.
Another use of it is canker sores. When patients have canker sores, we can use a laser and it creates a little laser wound, or a laser Band-Aid, as I like to call it. And our patients are more comfortable and underneath that dressing, it actually promotes healing and it’s not painful anymore.
