DR. JIMMY KILIMITZOGLOU: CEREC is a computer aided milling, computer aided designing software. It’s basically a digital camera that takes a picture of a tooth that’s prepared. And with a computer and a milling unit, it actually prepares a custom made filling or crown to fit that tooth. In the past what we had to do is take an impression, make a temporary, send the impression out to the lab, and the patient would have to come back for a second appointment about two weeks later to receive that final restoration. But with CEREC technology, we can cut down the time into one visit and patients really appreciate that.
