What is CEREC®?
CEREC® is a dental restoration technology that allows crowns, inlays and onlays to be placed in one convenient office visit. This is accomplished through the use of computer technology, rather than messy clay impressions, and an in-house milling machine that allows for the fabrication of porcelain restorations. The restorations that are created by CEREC® can be used to treat chipped, cracked, decayed, or discolored teeth.
The procedure begins with Dr. Kilimitzoglou removing any decay from the existing tooth. He also shapes the tooth to prepare it for the restoration treatment. Dr. Kilimitzoglou then applies a powder to the tooth, and uses CEREC® technology to take a digital picture of the mouth. This data is input into the CEREC® milling machine, where Dr. Kilimitzoglou uses his expertise to create a custom restoration, based on the 3D photo. Once the size and shape are finalized, the restoration is created on the spot and can be placed in its proper position. CEREC® allows Dr. Kilimitzoglou to bring results to his patients in a quick, pain-free manner.
